Palantir Certifications: What Exists, What They Cost, and How Registration Actually Works

Palantir certifications generate a steady stream of search interest and almost no straight answers, because the honest answer is unusual: the program is real, the exams are real, and the price is not public. No blog promising “Palantir certification cost 2026” can tell you a number, because Palantir does not publish one anywhere. This guide documents what its own learning portal actually says, verified against those pages on the date above, so you know exactly what you can and cannot find out before talking to Palantir.

What certifications Palantir actually offers

As of the verification date, Palantir’s learning portal publishes exam guides for exactly two certifications, both on its Foundry platform:

Foundry Data Engineer. The published exam guide specifies 60 questions in 120 minutes with a 70 percent passing score, in a mix of multiple-choice, hotspot, and matching formats, and the exam does not allow navigating back to previous questions.

Foundry Application Developer. The second published exam guide, covering Foundry’s application-building surface.

That is the complete published list. There is no architect-level certification exam guide, and no AIP (Palantir’s AI platform) certification exam guide on the exam-guides page, whatever course tiles and third-party chatter suggest. Palantir positions certification as the step after its free coursework: in its own words, experienced users can become officially certified in a Foundry domain by taking a Foundry Certification Exam.

What it costs, and why nobody can tell you

Palantir’s FAQ states the structure plainly: all Palantir Learning courses are free, and certification exams have an associated cost, for which candidates are told to contact their Palantir point of contact or their Foundry Administrator. No dollar amount appears anywhere on the learning portal, the exam guides, or the public web pages of the certification portal.

This is why Palantir certifications fail the test this site applies to every certification in its registry: a credential whose price cannot be verified at a published primary source cannot be honestly compared on cost. Treat any specific dollar figure you find on a third-party site as invented until Palantir publishes one.

How registration actually works

Registration runs through a separate, login-gated portal at certification.palantir.com. The path into an exam requires codes, and Palantir’s FAQ describes two kinds: access codes, required for Partner Program courses and certification exams, and single-use promo codes entered when registering for a certification exam. Limited numbers of codes are distributed, each usable once, through the candidate’s organization or Palantir contact.

Retake policy is published even though pricing is not: after an exam attempt there is a cooling-off period of 14 days, after which another exam can be purchased or a promo code used. After passing, there is an 11-month cooling-off before retaking the same exam, which in practice means a passed certification is not immediately re-attemptable for a better margin.

What to do with this if you are job hunting

If you work at a Palantir customer or partner, the play is straightforward: take the free coursework, then ask your Foundry Administrator or Palantir point of contact about exam access and cost. Certification is a genuine differentiator inside that ecosystem precisely because the supply of certified people is gated.

If you are outside the ecosystem, the honest advice is to not wait on Palantir. The free courses are open to anyone and are the useful part for learning; the certification itself is structurally out of reach without an organizational connection. Two certifications exist, both Foundry.
